Epsom salt with Glauber's salt is a vegan food supplement based on magnesium and sodium.
Some people swear by Epsom salt and Glauber's salt, others find the spicy-salty taste unbearable. For them, the consumption of these minerals in capsule form is advantageous.
Epsom salt is chemically speaking magnesium sulphate. This special salt does not have much in common with normal table salt. As the name suggests, Epsom salt is not a tasty cooking ingredient.
Glauber's salt was already produced in the 17th century by the chemist Johann Rudolph Glauber. He produced sodium sulphate from table salt and sulphuric acid, which is known today as Glauber's salt. The obsolete name is sulphuric acid sodium bicarbonate and in TCM it is called Mang Xiao.
