Devil's claw (Harpagophytum procumbens)
Devil's claw is regarded as a traditional plant from South Africa growing wild in the savannahs there. Its Latin name (Greek Harpagos = grappling hook) and the English name 'Devil's claw' derives from the claw-like fruits.

Willow bark
The willow can be found as a bush or a tree in woods or near riversides.
The willow bark contains tannins, phenyl glycosides, salicin and acylated salicin derivates. At the beginning of the 19th century, the vital substance salicin, and later the salicylic acid, could be isolated. Salicin is transformed into salicylic acid in the body.
