The cat's claw (Uncaria tomentosa) is a liana from South America. U. tomentosa can reach up to 100 m and the diameter more than 20 cm. It is known as cat's claw or uña de gato in Spanish because of its claw-shaped thorns.
For thousands of years the cat's claw has been called the "miracle plant" by the South American population.
