L-Tyrosine is a naturally occurring non-essential amino acid. It can be produced by the human body itself in sufficient quantities. The body synthesizes L-tyrosine from phenylalanine, but it can also be ingested through food.
As a proteinogenic amino acid, tyrosine acts as a building block of many proteins. In addition, tyrosine is also a precursor of a wide variety of messenger substances.
